Background:

South Australia is fortunate to have a number of shooting clubs but only one can lay claim to the states only national/international 500m range - and that is the SSAA Monarto Metallic Silhouette Rifle Club. The club shoots at the Monarto Complex, which is also home to a number of other shooting groups.
The SSAA Monarto Metallic Silhouette Rifle Club started in 1980 and held the first state centrefire championships in 1984. While it started with only 23 members, it now has more than 75. Those shooters enjoy a clubroom capable of catering during range days, a large storage shed, powered sites suitable for camping during state or national titles and toilet facilities.
The ins and outs of running a major event are well known to the club, which has hosted the national silhouette championships in both 1995 and 1997 and will host again in 2002.
