FLAG contributions by SSAA SA

These two documents below represent the formal responses by SSAA (SA) Inc to SAPOL proposals for changes to the Firearms Act and submissions by SSAA for sensible change to sections of the Act not considered by SAPOL for amendment.

The Association delegates to FLAG have tried to make a selection of submissions with at least some chance of success, rather than making an ambit claim which could be discarded out of hand.

It is not possible to provide a commentary of meetings and conversations with SAPOL staff as they have often been contradictory and do not necessarily reflect what a logical reading of the SAPOL proposals actually say.

The Minister has announced that the drafting of the revised Firearms Act is in process, so now is the time to see what SAPOL have asked for and what SSAA have proposed.

As soon as the Bill is available, the Association will ensure that it is available to Members so that they can consider it's implications and take any concerns they might have directly to their local Members of Parliament and MLCs.
